Courses and workshops available from AXL technical:
Aviation English Proficiency (52 hours) – This course is designed for three different categories of aviation English. Flight Deck, Cabin Crew, and Technician. The course is based on ICAO requirements for air crew that have English as a second language. It establishes a proficiency for flight deck crew to meet current language testing required for international pilots. The Cabin and Technician classes develop improved skills for communicating with passengers and foreign pilots.
What is Communication? (2 -4 hours) – This workshop is a group activity where the group participate in an active session inside ones own brain. What is communication? Really? We know how to speak and hear but do we know what process that makes it all work. The session covers the basics of the brain, and how it processes the information it receives. This workshop has been presented to participants of all levels. Who thought learning about how we communicate could be so much fun! The 4-hour version also looks at psycho-acoustics. What it is and how it affects us.
Voice-Over Production (16 hours) – This 2-day course looks at both sides of the process. As the technician recording the voice and the talent that is speaking into the microphone. One day is spent looking at each of these factors in producing great voice-over projects.
Audio for… (2-4 hours) – This course is custom designed for workers in many sectors that use audio equipment in their daily work but not necessarily the main focus of their work. Journalists, court recorders, and others have benefited from this workshop. How to record properly and how to do conduct simple but effective editing on basic easy to use audio software.
Grounding, Shielding, and Bonding (8 hours) – Not a course on creating a better relationship, but one on the importance of these 3 factors in making sound equipment safe, reliable, and quiet. This course was developed for technicians that work at live sound companies and sound system installation contracting companies.
Room Equalization (8-16 hours) – This one or two day workshop addresses the proper acoustic set-up of a live or playback sound system in a large or small room. It covers the proper selection and location of loudspeakers and their limitations. On the 2-day course, additional training is provided on how to use a graphic equalizer, sound level meter, and real-time analyzer.
Audio Systems & Maintenance (52 hours) – This course was originally developed for CDIS in Vancouver, Canada. It covers the principles of studio and live system design. It also looks at the routine service that is relevant to keeping the systems in proper operational order.
Consumer Electronics Repair and Troubleshooting (52 hours) – This course was developed for Hybrid Technical College in Vancouver, Canada. It was an introductory course aimed at providing conceptual and hands-on experience on servicing consumer electronic products.
